The rule is simple: every current ASCAA Certified Auto Appraiser is listed in this registry with a certification number. If an appraiser tells you they are certified by ASCAA and they are not listed here, they are not ASCAA certified.
Insurance carriers, umpires, attorneys, and courts give weight to an appraiser’s credentials. An appraisal signed by someone who misrepresents a certification can be challenged, discounted, or thrown out entirely — and that can cost you money on your diminished value or total loss claim.
The phrase “certified auto appraiser” on a website or business listing does not, by itself, identify who issued the certification. Always ask which organization certified the appraiser and verify it directly with that organization.
