Appraisal fees are separate from repair revenue and don't depend on carrier labor rates.
Independence matters. An appraiser who repaired the vehicle has a potential conflict of interest. ASCAA's USPAP & Ethics course covers disclosure and when to refer an assignment to another certified appraiser. Some states also require licensing for damage appraisal (guide).
